Virtual Lace Day – 11 April 2020
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic we were unable to hold our normal April lace day – but we are Lacemakers and nothing gets in the way of that so we held a ‘Virtual Lace Day’ on our Facebook page
We advertised it through our message to members when we had to cancel the physical meet up and on various Lacemaking groups and pages on Facebook. Suffice it to say it proved to be a resounding success – we had over 300 ‘visitors’ throughout the day and over 100 more have checked out the event since.
So what was there at our Virtual Day – pretty much everything we have at a normal Lace Day! We had a thread for showing off your current work – and there were some beautiful pieces. We had a Suppliers Thread so you could shop and support them through these difficult times. Throughout the day links were posted to useful videos, Lace Exhibitions, the work of Lacemakers around the world, addictive collections of Lace on Pinterest and much more – plenty to keep people busy and entertained. We even had photos of Tea and Cake!
With visitors from all over the world there was much chat, a little gossip, and a lot of fun. You can still see all the posts on our page , feel free to like and comment – and post something of your own.
Since we held our day, several other lace Groups have taken up the challenge and held their own events so keep your eyes peeled and join in.
Our june meeting has already been cancelled as we feel it is unlikely that we will be able to hold it – however we will probably hold another Virtual Day – please drop in and visit – we would love to see what you are working on.
